Bible Reading: 2 Kings 20-22; John 6:45-71
Memory verse: “Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.” John 7:13 (KJV)
There are still many today who have not only heard about Jesus but have been privileged to partake of His blessings, yet, don’t want to be identified with Him. Many reasons are responsible for this.
Jesus brought to the earth a new Kingdom and new ways of doing things far different from what obtains here on earth. People heard it, loved His message, yet don’t want to be a part of Him. In those days, everyone wanted to be part of the main religious group; anything other than that is considered out of order and one stands the risk of being ostracized. No one wants to lose friends and faces in the society.
For Jesus, however, it is all or nothing. He told His followers in Matthew 19:29 (KJV), “And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.” You either chose between Jesus and the world. The ‘world’ means your family, friends, colleagues and others you loved being with and things you love doing which takes you out of Christ.
Are you letting the pleasures of this word or the acceptance of friends and family influence your decision to be identified with Jesus? You should be excited to be identified with Jesus, the Son of God, whom He Himself glorified!. He is the real life every man needs. Be excited to talk of Jesus and never mind the mockeries that come with it. The fear and mockeries are tools being used by the devil to stop you from attaining eternal life.
Action Plan: Make a plan to speak about Jesus today especially where people are gathered. As you do this constantly you will grow in your identifying with Him.
