Bible reading: 1 Chronicles 14-16; John 9:24-41
Memory verse: “Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.” 1 Chronicles 14:14 (KJV)
Prior to the above verse where David yet again enquired of God, he had encountered the Philistines earlier. “And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. [10] And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.” 1 Chronicles 14:9-10 (KJV). David led the Israelites to a great victory. But the enemies came around again like the first time, but David enquired again from God.
This is one of the reasons why David never lost a battle and was a man after God’s heart. He always enquires of God on what next to do, even to the smallest of issues. How often do you go to God for directions on what to do in the midst of a challenge?
God loves it when we call on Him. He said in Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV), “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” God wants us to call on Him more than we do! If you are not calling on God then you don’t get the opportunity to be shown great and mighty things. David testified thereafter he inquired of God in 1 Chronicles 14:11 (KJV), “So they came up to Baalperazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim.”
As you go about your day and as you make plans, learn to commit everything you do to God and He will guide you to victory as you inquire of Him before taking any step.
