Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 26-27; John 11:18-46
Memory verse: “Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold, how he loved him” John 11:35-36 (KJV)
The sight of Jesus weeping after seeing Mary and the Jews weeping over the death of Lazarus goes further to show that Jesus feels all we are feeling here. He loves man the same way His Father does that’s why He came to the earth in the first place. John 3:16a (KJV), “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son.” Jesus knew God’s plan for man; death was not part of it. Not just that, the deep sorrow at the death of a loved one can be very hard to bear.
The misery we experience today in the world started from the original sin of our first parents. The sin activated death in the life of man. Death cuts short the destiny of many today. Especially through the medium of sickness and diseases. Jesus came to this world to destroy all the works of the devil and to rescue man from sin and the devil.
However, this power of Jesus to bring us out of sin and death is based on our believe in Him. John 3:16b (KJV), “…that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” No wonder He told Martha, “…I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” John 11:25 (KJV). Those who believe in Jesus will live forever! Everlasting life is theirs!
Jesus feels your pain. It is not His Father’s plan to see us go through the kind of pain we are being subjected to in this fallen world. Nevertheless, be comforted that if He can feel your pain, He will supply you comfort in the midst of that pain if you can reach deep to Him. Believe in Him and be comforted with eternal life.
