Bible Reading: Job 16-18; Acts 9:1-22
“men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” – Luke 21:26 KJV
Fear is destructive because it is a door that opens you up to every work of satan. Job 3:25 says “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, And that which I was afraid of is come unto me.”
Sometimes we read about Job’s ordeal but fail to realize that what caused all that happened to him was that he opened the door for the devil through fear because what you are afraid of will eventually happen.
Fear entered man’s existence when Adam yielded to the devil by listening to him in Genesis 3. When Adam said he was afraid, the first question God asked him was, “…WHO TOLD YOU that you were naked?” (Genesis 3:11). God knew Adam must have changed his source of information. Adam had no business listening to the devil because God had already created him and the woman to be like Himself as recorded in Genesis 1:26 so there was no need to eat any fruit that will make him ‘like’ God.
Some people are bound in fear because of the things that their parents or guardians have repeatedly told them from childhood. For others, it is a negative report from the doctor or what the television is saying!
The cure for any kind of fear is to change your source of information. You have to stop listening to anything that reveals your weaknesses, faults, and shortcomings and start giving attention to God’s Word.
If you want to live life above any kind of fear and enjoy success in whatever you do, then you have to feed on the right things because you can’t feed on fear and live victoriously in faith.
Prayer: Father, help me to feed and live on Your Word for victorious living in Jesus Name.
