…Spreading the gospel of Christ

WORD MEDITATION: 13/07/2023

Bible Reading: Psalm 10-12; Acts 17:16-34

“For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.” Acts 17:23 (KJV)

The bible says in Daniel 11:32 (KJV), “And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” This is what informed Apostle Paul’s decision to challenge the Athenians on the Unknown God as they had an altar for Him. Apostle Paul, thus, spoke to the Athenians to let them know that he has found the unknown God that they worshipped. He was intrigued when he saw the superstition of the people of Athens. He said in Acts 17:23 (KJV), “For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.”

Do you know the God you serve? Apostle Paul explained to them that our God, the only true God is the one in whom we live, move and have our being. He is the omnipotent creator who is a redeemer of mankind. He made everything and sustains everything. To address issues like that of Athens, He sent several prophets earlier to the world to tell everyone how to access Him and live in accordance with His ways. When most of the people did not change their ways, He sent his only Son Jesus to save the world. This son came to be sacrificed for the sins of the world so that we would be forgiven our sins. Those who accept Him as their Lord are forgiven and charged to live a life of Love that will make them pleasing to the Saviour. However those who do not accept Him or do not live in accordance with His commandment will not be forgiven their sins.

After a while, everybody dead or alive would be called to judgment on all they did while alive. All those who pleased God will be taken to heaven, a place of bliss while those who did not live a life of obedience to God will be sent to hell, a place of torment. The decision as to where each one will end is a choice to be made by each of us.

This is the God that we serve and He is the only true God over the earth and heaven. Do you know this God? If not, you have the opportunity to know hyim and change the course of your history so that you do not end up in hell! If you want to accept htim ,it’s simple, just tell Him you accept Him as your Lord, that hey should forgive your sins, and promise that you will not go back to any of your previous or new sins anymore! He will accept you and you will become His child and all your sins forgiven!

Prayer Point: Father, help me to know you more and live a life pleasing unto you for the rest of my life in Jesus name.

Pastor Joel Ezeugo
