Bible Reading: Psalm 65-67; Romans 2.
Memory Verse: “But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.” Romans 2:29 (KJV).
In Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV,) the Bible says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Such is the heart of man. It is the seat where evils are planned. Matthew 15:18-19 (KJV) says, “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. [19] For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:” How then do you keep your heart from these evil thoughts? It is by circumcising it.
Circumcision is the process of removing the foreskin of a man’s genital. Similarly, circumcising the heart is by removing the sin nature of the heart. It can only be handled by the manufacturer who is God Almighty. But God is ready to do this for you if you are ready to surrender your life to him and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. He made this promise in Ezekiel 36:26 (KJV), “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”
So this is the test of your salvation; is your heart circumcised? How do you know whether it is? If it is circumcised, you will love your neighbour as yourself. This will reflect in your dealings with other people around you. You will show people love; care for their welfare, bless them with what you have, always ready to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, provide shelter for the homeless.
So please examine yourself if you are truly saved as issues emanating from your heart will testify to this. No wonder apostle Paul said in Romans 2:29 (KJV), “But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.”
Action Point:
Please examine your heart; do you love your neighbour as yourself? If not, rededicate your life.
