Bible Reading: Psalm 70-72; Romans 4.
Memory Verse: “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” Romans 4:21 (KJV)
God spoke to Abram that he was going to make him a great nation and he would be a blessing. He was then 75 years old and had no child (Genesis 12:1-6). Still he believed and he obeyed God’s directive to leave his abode for a new place. On his journey, he kept on building altars for the Lord and God blessed him mightily in strange land as he promised.
It does not matter, where you are, God can bless you mightily if you will obey him continuously like Abram. But Abram still did not have a child though he was wealthy! Several years later, Sarai, Abram’s wife decided to help God and so arranged for her maid, Hagar to sleep with her husband to bear him a child. This appeared to have worked as the maid conceived and later gave birth to a son, Ishmael. Twenty four years after God promised Abram that he would be father of nations and while he was having only the child born by his wife’s maid for him, God appeared to him again and reiterated the promise to him and changed his name to Abraham and that of his wife to Sarah to reconfirm his promises to him.
Abraham, at this point laughed saying at almost 100 years and his wife, ninety years, can they still give birth to a child? He then said, to show that he believed God, that Ishmael will fulfill that purpose. But God said, inspite of Sarah’s age, she would still give birth to a child for Abraham in a year’s time. Abraham believed God and continued in his obedience to his instructions. Then God appeared to him again and reassured him and Sarah that they would have a new baby as he had told Abraham. Beyond the baby, God spoke to Abraham and he believed him even when he was stricken in age and God counted it for him as righteousness. This was before God asked him to circumcise his household. Apostle Paul therefore says that the faith of Abraham counted for him as righteousness was before the covenant of circumcision thus showing that the promise of God to Abraham apply to both Jews (who lay emphasis on circumcision and on gentiles (who do not lay emphasis on circumcision).
Abraham believed God completely “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.” Romans 4:21(KJV). This was counted for him as righteousness and applies to everyone that believes in God who raised Jesus Christ from the dead!
So whatever you are going through, please take it to the Lord in prayer and have faith that what he promised in his word, he can do it! He fulfilled his promises to Abraham and he will do same for you as long as you remain committed to him. If you do not believe yet, it is imperative you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour to ensure you do not end up in hell but in heaven with the Lord.
Prayer:
Present your challenge to God Almighty and fave faith that He will answer you and be ready for your testimony.
