Bible Reading: Psalm 109-111; Romans 16.
Memory Verse: “That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.” Romans 16:2 (KJV).
Several years ago, a brother was in need of some amount as his work place could not help him. So he came to our office and I recognised him having been together in a parish before. Upon hearing of his need, I was able to provide and we went our different ways. Many years later, our business had a liquidity challenge and we needed quite some money. The man I helped in the past saw my partner by coincidence and asked of me. Subsequently, he visited our office and despite been told that we had liquidity challenge, he gave us his money as loan for several years! The money was quite handy as it solved some of our financial problems.
When I helped the brother, I never knew roles could be reversed and I would be in need later but I helped him and there I was. Beside that, he was able to get some others in his office to place more money with us to cover our liquidity gap!
This is similar to Sister Phoebe as reported in Romans 16:1-2 who helped Apostle Paul and a number of others in times of their needs, now needed help herself. Paul willingly requested others to help her. Romans 16:2 (KJV) says, “That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.” What are you doing to help people around you? Nobody is self sufficient! You will need someone either directly or indirectly someday. God knew that when he created Adam. “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” Genesis 2:18 (KJV).
The person you help today may not help you tomorrow but God will raise someone to come to your aid when the need arises. It may or may not be in the same area! So keep looking out for ways of giving a helping hand to others and God will reward you in Jesus name.
Action Point:
Look for someone that needs help and assist the person today.
