Bible Reading: Psalm 112-115; 1 Corinthians 1.
Memory Verse: “But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:24 (KJV)
Jesus did many miracles that none could hide. He raised Lazarus from death after four days in the grave, healed the sick, set the captives free. These and innumerable miracles performed by him showed the divine power of God. This confounded the Jews as a man of mean birth, and having a couple of fishermen as disciples doing such miracles remained a mystery to them. Furthermore, the Greeks who were known for their knowledge having read several philosophies and science expected a king that would come from a noble family having lots of riches, noble advisers and a retinue of aides. They could not comprehend Jesus Christ being picked up like a common criminal, crucified on the cross, whom they made jest of and hung on the tree being the son of God and their Saviour! This is the stumbling block to the Jews. which is why Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 1:23 (KJV), “But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;”
However, to those who have been called, those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, they see the wisdom of God in Jesus Christ; how God used what the world considered the foolish things to confound the wise! Those who are ‘called’ also see the authority and power in Jesus Christ who was crucified, buried and resurrected for He forgave us our sins and gave us a clean record! by “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;” Colossians 2:14 (KJV).
The situation is still playing out today as many unbelievers are unable to comprehend how a lowly Jesus can forgive all our sins and give us rest, which the entire world so desire but do not have! Furthermore, that miracles happen through the name of the same Jesus Christ. So, to believers, as stated in 1 Corinthians 1:24 (KJV), “But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.”
Is your heart troubled, are you continuously worrying about your circumstance, has fear taken hold of you, then you need to surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ and experience a peace of mind that passeth all understanding. Listen to the Lord Jesus Christ himself in Matthew 11:28-29 (KJV), “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” And David wrote in Psalm 34:8 (KJV), “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”
Action Point:
Do you want to know the power and wisdom of God, accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour and get close to Him by studying His word and fellowshipping with Him regularly.
