Bible Reading: Proverbs 1-2; 1 Corinthians 12
Memory verse: “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal” 1 Corinthians 12:7 (KJV)
One of my favorite verse of the scripture is in the book of John, where our LORD Jesus knowing He would soon depart made a promise to His disciples, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter that he made abide with you forever” John 14:16 (KJ V). This promise was made because the disciples on getting wind of the impending departure of their Master were sorrowful not knowing what and how life would be without Jesus. Jesus fulfilled His promise and the Holy Spirit has been a comforter ever since till this day.
The Holy Spirit gives us comfort in this uncomfortable world. He was here at the beginning of creation helping to create all that is in existence today and so knows the earth very well. Just as He enabled Jesus to fulfil His mission here on earth God has given us the Spirit to help us fulfil our purpose here on earth too. He does this also by gifting everyone with gifts for the good of all. 1 Corinthians 12:4,7 (KJV) tells us, “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. [7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.”
All the giftings of the Holy Ghost are to build the saints in the body of Christ and magnify Jesus. The body of Christ is one with many parts functioning to keep the whole body as one. The giftings, therefore, are vital to develop the saints which makes up the body and it is a sign that God is in our midst. Recently, I got connected to a Prophetic ministry where the man of God operates in the office of a Prophet and I was blown away on how this gift and office works. Many people receive direction and guidance and deliverance through this aspect that the Spirit enables.
How about other gifts? This is the reason we must learn more about the Holy Spirit and how He operates for only He can guide us into the truth that Jesus Christ is. Knowledge of these gifts, and how they work can be better understood only by those who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal saviour. The beautiful thing is you too can desire these gifts by setting your heart on them after accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour and a desire to be part of edifying the saint in whatever area the Spirit gifts you.
Prayer: Father, the gift you have bestowed upon me to fulfil my part in the body of Christ, Let it manifest now in Jesus name.
