Bible Reading: Proverbs 7-8; 1 Corinthians 14:21-40
Memory verse: “Let all things be done decently and in order” 1 Corinthians 14:40 (KJV)
God loves peace; He does not endorse confusion. Thus, all things must be done decently and in an orderly fashion. Orderliness, as described by various dictionaries, means the quality of appreciating or valuing methods and systems, to be well behaved, to be free from disorder, to be organised, devoid of confusion, proper arrangement, sticking to methods and systems, etc. Decent, on the other hand, means proper and suitable. Decency is the quality of conforming to standards and good manners; acceptable behaviour.
Until ones’s life is in order one cannot gain speed and progress. Orderliness brings peace and progress. Everyone likes order. Ideally, no one would choose a chaotic setting over order. God likes order. Even miracles happen in due other; It doesn’t happen anyhow. Paul tells us, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints” 1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJV). Many developed countries do not have natural resources but they live in order and decency. This has given them growth and progress.
Many countries in Africa have so many resources to make them wealthy yet are still very poor because of the disorderly way their resources are being managed. Consequently, Africans travel abroad just to enjoy orderliness abroad in countries they have more natural resources than but more organised. Sadly, whenever these people come back, they drop all manner of decency and order they experienced abroad. Countries are upside down today because there is no order. Yet, a lot of people are benefitting from the disorderliness. No wonder laws are made but hardly ever implemented.
Disorderliness have taken over many organisations to the extent that things are no longer working as they should! Persons who are not best fit for positions are being hired on a daily basis to fill in sensitive positions thereby affecting the company as a whole negatively. There must be order in business. Never look down on any customer because without them there would be no business.
God wants order in every aspect of our lives so that we can grow and make progress and He has made provisions in His word to guide us. That’s why we are admonished by Apostle Paul, “Let all things be done decently and in order” 1 Corinthians 14:40 (KJV). This starts by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and saviour and confessing our sins. Then we have to obey His word and allow His Spirit to lead us.
Prayer: Dear Father, with Your loving Hands, guide me and lead me in the path way of order as outlined in Your word.
