Bible Reading: Song of Solomon 1-3; 2 Corinthians 12
Memory verse: “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
Grace is God’s ability coming upon us to do things that if left on our own we cannot do. God’s wisdom is perfectly seen in the grace in has made available to mankind. But only the wise eventually take full advantage of this grace.
Grace helps opens us to the mystery of dependency on God. His decision to form man is a decision to invest in humanity. However, His investment in a man will only come out fully only on those who depend on Him. God forms you, plans your future and leaves you with a weakness such that without Him you cannot go on successfully as He had planned. It is the weakness part of man that turns us to God, our strength.
Jacob was a very cunning and fast person. The moment he encountered God he substituted his fast ways of the world with a slower limping movement that now depended solely on God. When his brother, Esau, who had been angry with him for many years saw him, he could not resist but hugged and kissed him in tears, thanking God for seeing his only brother again. God made their meeting favourable because Jacob now leaned solely on him (Genesis 33:1-11).
In today’s memory verse, God confirmed the sufficiency of His grace for us in all things; be it in health, ministry and business and family. Paul leant from God Himself to lean on the Father especially in those areas where he was weak as God is waiting for Him to connect to is His strength.
What area do find yourself weak to prevail. Call on God today. Your strength lies in Him.
Prayer: Father, help me to be conscious of Your grace at all times.
