Bible Reading: Daniel 5-6; 1 John 4.
Memory Verse: “In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.” Daniel 5:30 KJV
Recently, a pastor and a re-known medical doctor was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his wife’s niece. I wondered how a professed child of God will be committing such an atrocity. The question is whether he was truly born again. If he was, he would have stopped committing adultery not to talk of now raping innocent girl under his care!
For a man who professed to be a man of God to have gone that far, he must have thought he could not be caught but he forgot just one factor; that nothing is hidden from God. Have you ever imagined a man sleeping with his wife betrothed to him by culture and intentionally denying the woman his fluid so that she will not bear a child and God seeing that, killed the man for that act! (Genesis 38:6-10).
Can you imagine anyone trying to hide anything from that God? What are you doing that you know is sinful? No matter how secretive it may be, God knows about it and has given you enough time to repent, you need to run to him now because your next act may lead to your exposure and the deadly consequences for such act. God is not a respecter of persons but of his true children.
In Daniel 5 that we read, the king felt he was enjoying when he and his family and associates used the golden vessels of God’s temple to drink wine and further insulted God by praising gods of gold, and silver among others. ( Daniel 5: 2-4) God allowed them to finish their drink and took the king’s life in the night of the same day! Daniel 5:30 (KJV) says, “In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.”
His death was in that night. Nobody knows when he will breath the last but it is important that whatever will cause God to be angry with you should be repented of now! Remember it was the same night that king Belshazzar committed the sin that his life was brought to an abrupt end! If you are into a secret sin, God is warning you to repent and seek his face for mercy so that He may not judge you according to your sins.
Prayer point: Father, I surrender to you today and repent of all sins and transgressions in my life and rededicate my life to the Lord Jesus Christ, please help me God.
