Bible Reading: Hosea 1-4; Jude 1
Memory Verse: “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,” Jude 1:20 KJV
Yesterday, we looked at some of the behavioral pattern that you should be known for as a Christian. Today we will look at a few more of such pattern.
You are expected to be faithful to God. You should exhibit faith in God. Such faith is built up over time. As you show faith in him in little things, he will aid you in building your faith in higher things. Jude 1:20 (KJV) says, “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,” You should be praying in the Holy Ghost often and that will further build your faith.
Also, you should be good to others as well as yourself. A number of Christians are not caring for their body. This is not expected of a good child of God because the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV), “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” You should nourish your body but not panther to your flesh.
Gentleness: The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:24 (KJV), “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,” So you should be gentle in your way of life such that people will know of your tolerance because anger rests in the bosom of fools. No matter the issues, you should resolve in gentleness.
You should exhibit meekness also. This is having authority and not using it to your advantage. Meekness was shown by our Lord Jesus when he was arrested and subsequently crucified and did not use his power to call angels to destroy his enemies. This is the opposite of pride and you know the Bible says in Proverbs 16:18 (KJV), “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
Finally, you should have self control over your entire life. So, you should put in check; sexual urge, appetite, speech and love for money amongst others. The Bible says in Proverbs 25:28 (ESV) “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” In every area of your life, you need to have control over your actions and reactions in order to pattern your life after Christ.
Prayer point:
Father, please release upon me the power to live a life patterned after my Lord Jesus Christ.
