Bible Reading: Amos 7-9; Revelation 7.
Memory Verse: “They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.” Revelation 7:16 (KJV)
We had a glimpse at the horrific experience the unbelievers will have at the end of the world in our word meditation yesterday. While they are going through this, the saints, those who are adjudged to be fit for heaven will be having pleasure never experienced by human beings before. To have an understanding of this, let’s look at Luke 16:19-31, After death, Lazarus the poor man who lived a life that pleased God was carried by angels into the bossom of Abraham while the rich man, who lived a life of an unbeliever was in torment in hell after death. He was in so much pain in flame of fire that he wanted just a drop of water to cool his tongue but was told it was impossible. Consequently, he wanted Abraham to send someone to his father’s house to repent so as to avoid ending up in the same place with him! But he was told if his brethren would not listen to the prophets, then they would not listen to anyone else. ( Luke 16:20-31)
To have a better understanding of the comfort of the saints in heaven, the Lord Jesus said of them in Revelation 7:16 (KJV), “They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.” Hunger for food, money, power, pleasure or other material things will no longer be felt by them because all their needs will be met without asking for them. Similarly, thirst for drink, wellness, joy, righteousness and glory among others will not be felt as the body of the saints would have been changed to incorruptible and those needs would be met before the need arises.
On the same note, there shall be no sunlight that may generate heat , neither will there be any affliction of sicknesses or diseases since the environment will be so conducive that environmental adjustment such as air conditioning or heating will not be necessary. Everything would be in the right quantity and the environment well lit thus not needing any sunlight because our Lord Jesus Christ shall be in their midst! Revelation 7:15,17 (KJV) summarizes it, “Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. [17] For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”
The bliss shared above is only for believers who make it to the end. So if you have not surrendered your life to Christ or you have backslided, it’s time to repent and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour as tomorrow may be too late.
Prayer point: Lord, give me the grace to follow you to the end in Jesus name.
