Bible Reading: Micah 6-7; Revelation 12.
Memory Verse: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Revelation 12:11 (KJV).
Satan is always looking for ways to destroy particularly human beings. Thus the Lord Jesus stated in John 10:10 (KJV), “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” In order to save men from the claws of satan, Jesus Christ came to the world and died for us all so that we may live. He has thus taken away all our sins and made us clean. 2 Corinthians 5:15 (KJV), “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” By this death, all true disciples of Christ have overcome satan because he has nothing in us to accuse us of; having been cleansed by the blood of the lamb. This is why 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) says “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” So you have conquered satan by the power in the blood of Jesus which was shed on the cross for your sins. Furthermore, a true disciple testifies of the new birth not only in words but also in action as an obedient follower of Jesus Christ. Thus, after being saved by Christ, you live a life that is patterned after Christ such that when people see you, they will give glory to God Almighty. That is why the name Christians came forth because people saw that the disciples were behaving just like Christ while he was on the earthly ministry. (Acts 11:26) . When this happens, you will always overcome satan because when he comes, he will find nothing in you just as Jesus stated in John 14:30.
Another way the saints overcame satan is by putting Jesus Christ first in everything they do. Thus the love of Christ is primary even at the expense of their lives. Jesus Christ stated this condition when he said in Luke 14:26 (KJV), “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.” So when you have to take a decision at a point where saying the truth can cost you so much including your life while lying can give you a temporary reprieve, what will be your decision? Nonetheless remember to truly overcome satan, the word of God gives us the way forward: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Revelation 12:11 (KJV)
Prayer point: Lord give me the grace to love you above everyone and everything for the rest of my life.
