Bible Reading: Nahum 1-3; Revelation 13.
Memory Verse: “The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.” Nahum 1:3 (KJV)
Power is often defined as the ability to do work or transform. Power itself can not do the work to transform anything until it is exerted. This is why it is defined as ability. You may have an ability but not use it. For example, someone has power to speak but remains silent. One can also have power in different areas. Thus, you may have power to move a log of wood from one place to another but not have power to pay for an air ticket. So there are different dimensions and levels of power. However, the greatest power derives from God. “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.” Psalm 62:11 (KJV). And God gave that power to Jesus Christ to exercise after He resurrected from death. “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Matthew 28:18 (KJV)
So whatever power you require, all you need is to seek the custodian of all power, Jesus Christ and ask him, He shall give it to you. Do you want to make wealth, the power to get riches without sorrow does not lie anywhere else but with the Lord Jesus Christ ( Deuteronomy 8:18) Or is yours physical power, ask Him who gave all forms of skills in craftmanship to people and thus make physical power less demanding (Exodus 31:3-5). If you also desire higher level of intelligence or you have someone who is considered foolish whether in general matters or even academics, call on the one who is wisdom of God and you will see the change ( James 1:5). And where your desire is to do exploits in the kingdom of God, then call on Him who has power to do all things. But above all He has given power to everyone who is baptized in the Holy Spirit and all that is required of you is to use that power to witness to others and win them to Christ. Hear the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 1:8 (KJV), says “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
That power to witness Christ to others needs to be used for the purpose intended. You need to win souls unto God so that they can live happily on earth and more importantly have eternal life hereafter. That is the desire of the Lord. “The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked : the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.” Nahum 1:3 (KJV).
But you cannot give what you do not have. You need to be filled with the power of God so that you can witness for Him as easily as the apostles did after they received power from above ( Acts 2:2-4).
