Bible Reading: Zechariah 1-3; Revelation 17
Memory Verse: “Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 1:3 (KJV) .
Today is generally known as Boxing Day all over the world by Christians. It is a day when boxes of gifts are exchanged with loved ones. Have you given out your own box of gifts? The main object of such gifts is to express love for each other as that is one of the main pillars of Christianity. It is expected that as you give out gifts, others may also give you gifts to show reciprocity of love.
But have you thought of giving gifts to God Almighty? The one who owns everything? . He says in Matthew 25:40 (KJV), “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” So when you preach the gospel to the unbelievers and they turn their ways from wickedness to righteousness, you have given a gift to God. A lot of lost souls need people to preach the gospel to them for a better understanding of the message and for them to turn to God who is ever willing to accept them. He said in Zechariah 1:3 (KJV), “Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the Lord of hosts.”
It is important that you see preaching the gospel to people as a very important spiritual work that requires a lot of preparation, It does not matter your knowledge of the word of God, the move of the Holy Spirit will give you the needed direction. This is why you need to pray extensively before you go out for such a program. And particularly for this season, you need to commit things to the hands of God and ask for direction. As you do this, the invisible hand of God will direct you.
The message is simple; all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and God does not want the death of sinners but that they should repent. And God has given assurance that anyone who repents and calls on Him, He will not reject. (John 6:37). Rather He will turn to them, forgive them their sins and give them a new Spirit to show them the way to follow. He actually extends His hands of fellowship to all unbelievers as He is not interested in people perishing but in redeeming them. Thus He says in Matthew 11:28 (KJV), “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” How many people have you been able to preach the gospel to this season?
Prayer point:
Father, please give me the grace to preach your gospel to several people beginning from this season.
