Bible Reading: Genesis 18-19; Mattthew 6
Memory verse: “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name” Matthew 5:9 (KJV)
You cannot please a person if you do not know what he or she likes. You can never understand a person until you understand the person’s priorities. Moreso, you cannot tap into heaven nor please God if you do not know His priorities. Fortunately, His only Son who was with Him in heaven came down to the earth and taught us how to go about pleasing Him especially in the area of prayer.
No matter what we do the bible tells us in proverbs 3:6 (KJV), “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Jesus framed the first prayer with, “Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” God’s name is the priority of heaven. Everything done on earth must be done in the light of His name. As we hallow His name His Kingdom is invited into whatever situation even before you mention that situation. Jesus understands this principle because that is what is practiced in heaven.
In heaven, angelic voices cry out without stop, “…Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of his glory” (Isaiah 6:3). Moreso, Revelation 4:8 (KJV) tells us, “Day and night they never cease to say, Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.” Their mentioning of Him in heaven is without end. No wonder everything works perfectly well in heaven. Remember, earth is an extension of heaven, so whatever obtains in heaven where God is everything, must be replicated here if we are to enjoy and fulfill our stay here on earth.
No matter the situation, always put God’s name first. Let God be everything you do and the reason for the decision you make. He only does things that will bring glory to His name; if it will glorify man, then God is not part of it. Even as you begin your prayers today, hallow His name, make it holy, sanctify it, consecrate it, bless His name in your heart even before bringing any request to Him. Only then can every thing work perfectly well in your life as a representative of heaven here on earth.
Prayer: Dear Father, may your name be highly exalted and glorified. Grace to always magnify and put you first in everything we do in Jesus name.
