Bible Reading: Genesis 23-23, Matthew 8
Memory verse: “And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and seek of a fever” Matthew 8:14 (KJV)
Following Jesus is not as easy as it sounds. It does not stop with walking behind Him as many of His disciples did, but goes further. The end product of following Jesus is that He makes the follower a fisher of men as He said in Matthew 4:19 (KJV), “…Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” That’s the ultimate goal of following Jesus till today; to bring others into the kingdom.
Peter, who was brought to Jesus by his brother Andrew, quickly made everyone in his household know of his association with Jesus Christ. He even took Jesus to his house where his mother-in-law lay on the bed sick. The bible says, “And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and seek of a fever. [15] And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them” Matthew 8:14 (KJV).
The bible recorded the experiences of those who encountered Jesus and brought Him into their space or sphere and they were glad they did. This is to serve as an example to us today that to get the best out of our followership with Jesus we must share Him with as many as we can in our home, place of work or school. A lot of people say they are followers of Christ yet they never speak of Him to others. There is no way you will have Jesus in your life and not have something to share with others about Him.
It is the will of God that no man perish but all attain everlasting life. This is only possible if you begin this very day to start talking about Jesus to others. Some people talk about church too. But Jesus must be the main discussion when you are inviting people to the Kingdom through invitation to church. As you do, forces from the kingdom back you up and strengthen you with all you will need to bring in souls to Jesus.
Prayer: Dear Father, grace to make bringing Jesus into my sphere be like breathing to me in Jesus name.
