Bible Reading: Genesis 25-26; Matthew 9:1-17
Memory verse: “And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him” Matthew 9:9 (KJV)
Following Jesus is not just about coming to church but telling others about Him in your sphere and bringing them to Him. No one ever encountered Christ and remained the same. No! you become not just bold but on the move to bringing others to Him. Bringing people, however, starts with people in your area of activity or sphere. Who makes up your sphere?
Family members: After John the Baptist pointed to Jesus as the Lamb of God (John 1:36) two of John’s disciples immediately followed Jesus. One of these two men was named Andrew. The bible tells us in John 1:40-41 (KJV), “He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, we have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.” Peter was handed the leadership of the church after Jesus left. You never know who that family member is before God until you bring them to Christ.
Friends: The bible tells us Jesus found Philip in Galilee and told him “follow me” (John1:43). Shortly thereafter, “Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, we have found him of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph” John 1:45 (KJV). Jesus when He saw Nathanael told him, “…Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee” John 1:48b (KJV). There are friends of yours Jesus has seen since He called you and waiting for you to bring to Him!
Colleagues: Matthew gathered so many fellow publicans like himself and threw a feast for Jesus (Matthew 9:9)! Tax collectors in those days were greatly despised. But Jesus loves everyone like the Father does and wants all to be saved. Like Matthew, your colleagues at work place can be brought to Jesus too, or rather take Jesus to your colleagues.
Take a look at people around you at home, work place, and neighborhood. How many have you brought to Jesus since you met Him?
Action plan: Before the end of this month, make it a duty to bring at least a soul to Jesus from your area of activity.
