Bible reading: Exodus 7-8; Matthew 17
Memory verse: “And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharoah: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet” Exodus 7:1 (KJV)
There was a time Egypt was the biggest kingdom in the world and King Pharoah, the ruler was like a god to the people in the land. He was feared and highly revered by all; both in the kingdom and outside the kingdom. It is this same land and king, however, that God intended to use to demonstrate His power and might for all to see and to know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men (Daniel 4:17)
It was a fugitive turned shepherd God chose to go face Pharoah with the words of “Let my people go.” But first He had to change Moses’ way of thinking. Besides the fact that he stammers whenever he speaks Moses does not see himself as worthy enough to stand before a great ruler like Pharoah. However, God choosing him and telling him what to do, automatically qualifies him to stand before Pharoah as an equal. And his believing and seeing himself the way God is seeing him as His representative made him higher than Pharoah or a god to Pharoah. That’s why he told him, “See, I have made thee a god to Pharoah:” Exodus 7:1.
Moses would later manifest this God given authority and power over Pharoah in the sight of the whole Egyptians. The key here is believing the word of God and seeing yourself as God sees you. Your inabilities or inadequacies does not matter when you are chosen by God. When Moses complained about being a stammerer, “And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? Or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? Have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say” Exodus 4:11-12 (KJV). It is your purpose that matters before God, not your physical qualities or attributes. However, for your purpose to come into play you must believe God who created you for such a time.
How do you see yourself? Do you believe in God to manifest all He has deposited in you that you know not of? Jesus in today’s bible reading berated His disciples for their lack of faith or unbelief leading to their inability to cast out the demon troubling a boy (Matthew 17:14-20). God has invested so much of His word and His Spirit in us thereby making us gods in this word. All we need to do is believe and see ourselves the way God sees us. Only then can we fulfill our purpose here on earth.
Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus, help me to see myself the way You see me and to fulfill my purpose here on earth.
