Bible reading: Genesis 41-42; Matthew 25:1-23
“For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” – Esther 4:14
This verse was spoken to Esther because she found herself in a position to rescue her people, the Jews, from death. But, if she followed through with her plans to intervene, she will put her own life at risk because of the laws at that time. Esther was reluctant, but she trusted that God truly put her in that position at that time to do what needed to be done. This tested her faith, and God was working all things for good in her situation.
God has a plan for everyone. There are times when God will ask you to do things that are difficult or things we think we might not be able to do. We may face uncertainty, failure, fear, and suffering as we try to fulfill God’s plans for our lives. But God is with us every step of the way. He is working all things for the good of those who love Him. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28.
Queen Esther may have felt that way when her uncle Mordecai suggested that she could use her position to stop the destruction of her people. Mordecai reasoned that no one else among the Jews had such access to the king. So perhaps that’s why God had made Esther queen to be in a place to stop such a terrible evil from happening and save her people.
Esther knew what she had to do. She asked all her people to fast for three days and nights for God’s intervention and deliverance. When Esther walked into the king’s throne room, she was wrapped not just in a beautiful robe but also in the prayers of God’s people which gave her favour in the eyes of the king, for God’s presence was with her.
The same way God is reminding us today, that He is always with us in our world in such a time like this, preparing places, opportunities, choices, and options ahead of us. To provide, protect and deliver us from the viles of evil. We have a God who cares and will never leave us. We can rejoice that nothing happens by chance and that even the sad and hurtful things of life are under God’s control to grant us a victorious future. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – Jeremiah 29:11.
Prayer: Father, order my steps to walk according to the plans and Your purpose you have for me to fulfill destiny.
