“Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God. He riseth from super, and laid aside his garment; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. Then cometh he to Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Jesus answered and said unto him, what I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. Peter said unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.” John 13: 3-8
Many has misinterpreted the above scriptures as to mean Christ teaching the disciples humility. From the initial action of Peter it is clear that he thought the same way, but Jesus response made it clear to him that it was beyond that – “If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me”. The scriptures says “Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hand” this connote authority and dominion. It is the same hand that all things has been given to that he used to wash and wipe the disciples feet thereby transferring the same power and authority and dominion. In Joshua 1:3(KJV) God said to Joshua “Every place that the sole of your feet shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses”. In Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”. This is the power that Jesus was transferring to the disciples in the mystery of feet washing. It is the mystery that establishes our power to possess and dominate. By this mystery exercise of feet washing Jesus was restoring to the generation of human race (the new creation) the dominion that was lost in the first Adam. Evidently, dominion was passed onto the disciples through this mystery of divine transference, such that when Jesus left, they represented Him, spirit, soul and body. Everything bow to them just as they did to Jesus. Christ has establish this mystery as one of God’s wisdom for establishing the dominion and the triumph of the church in the new dispensation.
Prayer: Father, thank you for mystery of feet washing that transfers authority and dominion to me. In Jesus Name
