TOPIC: NO ONE IS TOO YOUNG TO WORK WITH GOD
Bible Reading: 2 Kings 23-25; John 7:1-31
Memory verse: “Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jedidah, the daughter Adaiah of Boscath.” 2 Kings 22:1 (KJV)
God can use anybody to bring His will to pass. The most important thing to God is for His will to be carried out. He has used the old, middle aged and young to bring His will to pass. We have learnt of Moses whom God met at age eighty. We learnt of Abraham whom He met at age seventy five and told to leave his father’s house. But there are so many young ones God also used.
Joseph was very young when God started to show him what his future would be like in his dreams. As a kid, he spoke of the things he saw to his brothers and this almost got him killed but God was with him. He became a slave, then a prisoner and eventually he became the Prime Minister of Egypt. God’s plan for him to become a ruler came to pass irrespective of the hardship he went through.
David too was chosen by God anointed a ruler at a vey young age. It would take many years for him to eventually ascend unto the throne after escaping the jealous and enraged King Saul, who does not want any other person apart from his son to be King. God’s plan for David came to pass as he became the greatest king the Jews have had till this day.
In today’s bible reading, “Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jedidah, the daughter Adaiah of Boscath” 2 Kings 22:1 (KJV). Events that followed after his ascension to the throne shows that God was behind it all. He was the youngest king in the bible. He sent for repair works to be done in the house of God and while there they found book of the law. The kings before him worshipped other gods and never read the book of the law. But young Josiah listened to the reading of the law and wept for the sins of his people and made a covenant with God and made great changes in the land.
God is still using the young everywhere and every day to bring His word and will to pass. This shows how important His will is to Him. Nobody is too young to be used by God. All He needs is someone with an open and willing heart to obey His commands.
Prayer: Father, thank You for bringing Your will to pass through children.
