TOPIC: SALVATION IS A TOTAL PACKAGE
Bible Reading: Job 4-6; Acts 7:20-43
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His Benefits:” – Psalm 103:2
Our salvation is an all-encompassing one. It is not just the salvation of our souls; it also includes our families, marriages, health, finances, careers, etc. Hebrews 6:9 says, “But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.” The things that come with salvation include healing, promotion, financial prosperity, protection, and the good things of life!
In the Old Covenant David recognized there were benefits in his covenant with God and he stressed that they should not be forgotten. In our text, he says, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and FORGET NOT ALL HIS BENEFITS.” In the succeeding verses that follows our opening text, he lists the benefits which include forgiveness of sins, healing, protection, deliverance, grace, mercy, good things, ability, longevity, and strength!
The Psalmist is saying we should not come to that place where God’s benefits and blessings in our lives fall on the blind spot of our memory.
We are admonished to be like the Psalmist who worshiped God and did not forget His benefits. Religion teaches almost the opposite; it tells you to simply bless the Lord and might not bother about all His benefits.
If the Psalmist under the Old Covenant could remember all of God’s benefits, then in this New Covenant, we should always keep in memory the benefits of what the sacrifice of Jesus has done for us because the New Testament is based on better things and promises. “But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.” – Hebrews 8:6. Praise the Lord!
Prayer: Father, I Thank You for everything You have done for me. I thank You for the forgiveness of sins, healing of my body, protection, preservation, provision, family, love, and all the good things that accompany salvation.
