TOPIC: GOD’S COUNSEL AND THOUGHT FOR US
Bible Reading: Psalm 31-33; Acts 21:15-40.
“The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of no effect. The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thought of his heart to all generations.” Psalm 33: 10-11(KJV).
The word of God is eternal and transgenerational in application. The words of the scripture are collaborative and remain operational in all generations. Its efficacy and potency remain the same in all generation. The word apply to all people and at all situations. Some of the potent scriptures that collaborate our above focal scriptures are numerous and they work for them who have embraced and live by God’s word. The potency in the word of God manifests through a convinced confession from the heart. The efficacy of God’s word is manifest through them that has completely yielded to His will. The power embedded in God’s word is what is referred to as the secret place of the Most High.
The bible says in John that the Word was in the beginning with God and that the was God. All things were made by Him. That Word is Jesus Christ who incarnated for the restoration of man (Luke 1:31&35). When Mary was conceived of Jesus the power of the Most High overshadowed her and the scripture in Psalm 91:1(KJV), “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Because Mary was carrying Jesus who is the Word of God she was overshadowed by the Most High, likewise when we believe the word in our heart we abide under shadow of the Almighty. Therefore, the word of God believed and stored in our heart is the secret place of the most High that results in divine coverage. It is on this premise that I shall be reviewing the import of the above focal scriptures.
What is the counsel of the LORD? These are God’s word spoken concerning His children. The eternal words declared in the scriptures represent the thought and declaration of divine will concerning them that serve and obey Him. In Lamentation 3:27(KJV) the bible says, “Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not.” It is only those things commanded or thought towards us by the Lord that can come to pass. Hence, when the counsel of men runs contrary to God’s thought towards us it is made null and void. In Job 5:12(KJV), “He (God) disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise” In Isaiah 54:17(KJV) the word says, “No weapon that formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” God’s counsel is His thought towards us, and His thought towards is for good and not for evil (Jeremiah 29:11). What it therefore means is that any weapon prepared against us, negative words of the tongue against us and every wicked conspiracy against us is not guaranteed to prosper. That is what the above focal scriptures is saying by bringing the counsel of the heathen to nought and the devices of the people of no effect. The bible called this divine protection and exemption the heritage of His servants whose righteousness of the Lord (2 Corinthian 5:21). In Romans 10:10(KJV) the scriptures talked about our confession and declaration, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” It is not only believing in our heart, confessing with our mouth is translate to manifestation and our salvation.
My dear reader, accepting Christ Jesus into your life guarantees your exemption from the devices and the evil tongue of the wicked. You need to have Jesus Christ indwelling in your life by the Holy Spirit to have His protection as your heritage.
