TOPIC: PRAISE IS A COMMANDMENT
Bible Reading: Psalm 148-150; 1 Corinthians 11:16-34
Memory verse: “Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.” Psalm 150:6 (KJV)
Praise is a commandment; everything that has breath must praise the LORD. It is celebrating God for what He has done, what we desire to see done or what He is yet to do. Praise is what connects us to God because as our praise goes up to Him He comes down to meet us. Psalm22:3 (KJV), “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praise of Israel.” Praise brings God’s presence.
God sustains everything in the world through praise. The sun, moon, mountains and all created praise Him daily (Psalm 148:1-10). No wonder they continue to be new everyday. They have no barrier preventing them from being renewed because they praise their maker every day. Praise has breakthrough powers that clears off every barrier on the path of the praiser.
When praise becomes your lifestyle barriers clear on their own. The walls of Jericho was a barrier on the path of the children of Israel to their promised land. When they engaged in praise the walls gave way and Israel took the city of Jericho. Praise brought God down and His presence sank the hugh walls of Jericho (Joshua 6:1-27). Praise, therefore, is a platform for supernatural breakthrough.
In todays world full of challenges, You are either praising God or complaining. Note that complaints may attracts man’s sympathy but bring God’s wrath. When Israel murmured and complained God came down hard on them because no matter the situation on ground having God on your side is more than enough reason to celebrate Him in praise, thereby activating His mighty Hand in battle over that situation. Moreso, He wants us to dwell on Him rather than any other situation that deflates our faith in Him.
As you begin this new month and as long as you have breath in you the commandment is binding on you: “Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.” Psalm 150:6 (KJV)
Action Point: Make praise a lifestyle today by praising God as many times as you can daily.
