Topic: The True Gospel
Bible Reading: Song of Solomon 6-8; Galatians 1
Memory verse: “Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, [4] Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father” Galatians 1:3-4 (KJV)
The gospel is the good news as revealed in the above scriptural verse. Every other thing builds from this foundation of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The death was necessary so that He could kill sin in the flesh. His resurrection was possible through God by the Spirit of holiness.
The true gospel points to the power of the cross to rescue man from this present evil world where Satan is the ruler of things. Accepting Jesus’ death and resurrection is you inviting heaven into your affairs here on earth. Heaven comes with its main agent, The Holy Spirit, who comes into you and remains in you to slowly build you from inside out and equips you to become like Christ to overcome this world system.
The true gospel has been under attack for years now by ministers sent by Satan to cause confusion in the world. False preachers came up during the time of Paul preaching false messages that holds living by rules and laws in place of walking by faith in Christ. Walking by faith in the power of the Spirit is the proper outworking of the gospel of grace. It works according to the will of the Father, which is to rescue us from the penalty as well as the power of sin in our lives.
Paul was surprised at the Galatians for entertaining these false preachers, “I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel” Galatians 1:6 (KJV). Any teachings, doctrines or ideas originating from persons, churches or traditions and not expressed or implied in the word of God is not the gospel. There is no other gospel but that brought to us from God through His Son Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Father, thank You for rescuing me from sin and death through faith in the power of the cross. Help me to stick to the true gospel in these times in Jesus name.
