Topic: Grow in faith
Bible Reading: Isaiah 4-6; Galatians 3
Memory verse: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
Have you ever wondered why the Bible said without faith no man can please God? Faith has always been described as a very important virtue in our walk with God. Several times in the Bible we read, “The just walk by faith” Habakkuk 2:4b (KJV), among others. Faith comes by hearing the word of God and believing in the word heard. But how important is faith?
God wants every child of His to have His Spirit dwell in them. It is the Spirit of God that makes it possible to work with God. This is only possible if one has faith in Him. In the Bible reading of today, Paul reminded the Galatians of the importance of faith in their Christian work. Firstly, it is because of our faith in Jesus Christ that God gives us the Holy Spirit. “…for the Holy Spirit came upon you only after you believed the message you heard about Christ” Galatians 3:2b (NLT).
The Spirit of God in man is what makes everything God possible in the world we live in. Jesus, in His earthly walk, was able to carry out the will of God because of His faith in his Father. He would not do anything outside of His Father’s will. No wonder He had the Spirit without measure upon His life (John 3:34). Paul, too, was full of the Spirit of God because of his faith in God. He became so full of the Spirit because of his faith in God.
This is one of the reason why we find it difficult to work with some people; the absence of God’s Spirit due to lack of faith in Him. Do you desire to do the will of God like Jesus and apostle Paul did? Then grow in faith by first listening to the word of God daily and meditating on it. With time the Spirit of God, who inspired the writing of the word, will settle in you making you a success in this world.
Prayer: Father, help me to grow in faith in Jesus name
