Topic: Pray always for your converts and visit them again
Bible Reading: Isaiah 7-9; Galatians 4
Memory verse: “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,” Galatians 4:19 (KJV)
Preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and winning souls is one thing and helping the converted to allow Christ to be formed in them is another thing. First, at salvation the Spirit of God comes into a person and continue to open him up to the things of God based on the prayers of those who helped convert him and the follow up in terms of studying the Bible and fellowshipping with the brethren.
Above all, God wants His Spirit to lead us. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” Romans 8.14 (KJV). Only with the Spirit of God can we know the mind of God 1 Corinthians 2:11 (KJV) says, “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.” This is the realm where Paul and all Sons of God operate from. A realm where they are totally being led by the Spirit of God. All fathers wants the best for their children, hence the travailing being done to see Christ fully formed in a person.
Christ being formed in a person is the Spirit of God fully leading such a person as Christ was when He was on earth. Remember, there is always a war between the flesh and the spirit. However, to fulfil God’s plan on earth we must submit our spirit to the Spirit of God to allow Him open us up to the deep things of God and lead us into our destiny. But it takes grace and submission of our inner man to the leading of His Spirit to achieve this.
Let’s learn from Paul and his team. Not only did they win souls, but they travailed in prayers for them. Colossians 4.12 (KJV) says, “Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” Prayers help keep that day of salvation fresh in the hearts of the new converts. Paul travelled far and wide, yet, the converts whom he met on the first day still remembered him and looked forward to his visits with eagerness alongside their own converts.
Travailing is labour. It is work. The joy of seeing your converts become mature in the things of the Spirit shows it pays to travail.
Action Plan: Henceforth, Write out the names of those you have shared the word with and pray for them daily. Find time to visit them again and let the angels and God’s Spirit do the rest.
