…Spreading the gospel of Christ

TOPIC: PRAYING LIKE A KING

“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.”  John 16:23

Do you know that God has made us kings and priests unto Himself (Revelations 5:10). It is not a figure of speech when Romans 5:17 said, “For if by the one man’s offence death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.” You have been called to reign as a king and there is a way God expects you to talk and pray.

Kings are trained to talk, and this is why believers have to be trained even in the way they pray in order to be effective because some Christians still don’t pray the way they ought to! Galatians 4:1 says, “Now I say that The heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all” Notice this scripture did not say that ‘when’ He is a child, rather it says ‘as long’ as He is a child! What this means is that as long as you remain a child you cannot enjoy what is yours and you should not remain a child in all your Christian Walk because you are born a king and a master over all. You are not a spiritual pauper!

The first thing about a successful prayer life is taking on the mindset of a king! How you see yourself in Christ determines how you will pray! Jesus teaching His disciples on how to pray in our text says, “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.” The ‘day’ that Jesus was referring to is this new covenant days which we are in because of Jesus’ death, burial, resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father.
Jesus said we can go ‘directly’ to the Father because we have access. You don’t need to go through any man or woman in order to reach God because of your relationship with Christ. This is why it is very important to know who you are in Christ Jesus. For example, the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 1:20-21, “For all the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God…” What this means is that every promise that God has ever made to man in scripture is already an established reality because of Jesus and when we say ‘amen,’ what we are actually doing is that we are agreeing with Him and enforcing it as our reality. This is possible because we are anointed in Christ. You are anointed to reign as a king in Christ. You have a throne; you are seated at the right of God as declared in Ephesians 2:6, “… and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus…”

In Christ Jesus, you are sitting on a throne and when you pray, you should talk like a king.

Prayer: Thank You Father for raising me up to sit together with You in Christ Jesus. I declare that as I step into the day; I rule and reign over the situations and affairs of life in Jesus Name.
