TOPIC: THE SPIRIT OF REALITY
“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” – John 14:16-17 (KJV)
The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to make you a success in every area of your life and success is a product of understanding. When Jesus introduced the Holy Spirit in our text, He introduced Him as the Spirit of Truth. In John 15:26 (KJV) He told His disciples, “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.”
Now, when Jesus introduced the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of truth, He wasn’t referring to truth like many of us suppose it because truth in this verse doesn’t mean the opposite of a lie. The word ‘truth’ means reality and reality is a function of how much understanding, light or knowledge that someone has about something per given time.
The primary work of the Holy Spirit’s work in your life as a believer is to progressively bring you into a greater understanding as He opens you up to the realities of things that your mind ordinarily might not yet have known or conceived. The way He does this is by giving you insights and revelations concerning life as you look into, hear and meditate on the Word of God because Jesus is the Word of God revealed to you. Jesus said in John 15:26, “… He will testify of me.”
John 1:1-3 says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” We can see from these verses that Jesus is the Word of God and everything in existence (both visible and invisible) was created through Jesus the Word of God. It then means that through the Word of God, the Holy Spirit can reveal to you the truth or reality of how everything in existence works; even things that haven’t yet been discovered. Your role is to open up your mind to the Spirit of God and be more conscious of Him in everything that you do because Jesus said He will ‘always’ be with you.
You don’t have to be confused and stranded in any area of life. What you don’t yet know is what hasn’t yet been revealed to your mind and this is why Jesus gave you the Holy Ghost. 1 Corinthians 2:12 says, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” Everything has been freely given to you as a child of God and you also have the Spirit of God Who is the Spirit of truth in you at all times to ‘reveal’ to you those things that have been freely given so that you can succeed in everything that you do.
With the Holy Ghost in you, there is no way that you can be cheated on, defrauded or fail because you have ‘reality’ Himself residing in you!
PRAYER: Precious Holy Spirit of God, I am opened to You as You give me understanding and reveal to me the realities of the path of life that the Father has set for me in Jesus’ Name.
