WEEK DISCUSS: WHAT WE BECOME BY REDEMPTION IN JESUS CHRIST
Text of The Week: 2 Cor. 5:17 – ” Therefore if any man be in Christ. he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” – KJV
Having made peace with God and accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we have been justified by faith. We now belong to the family of God. This is stated clearly in Gal. 4:6 “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying “Abba, Father” . This is an attestation to our sonship when we get born again. Please mind you that it is your spirit man which the scripture refers to as your inward man – 2Cor. 4:16, the Hidden Person of the heart – 1 Peter 3:4 that is regenerated, recreated, and is referred to in 2 Cor. 5:17 as a new creature. What have we become in Christ Jesus at redemption? We will give answers to this question from the scriptures as follows:-
- You are a new creature – 2Cor. 5:17
- You are a son of God – John 1:12,
- You have been translated – Col 1:13. We have been delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of the Son of His Love
- You are seated and dwell with Christ in the heavenly places far above principality and power and might and dominion, Eph. 1:20-21 & Eph. 2:6
- You have divine nature – 2 Peter 1:4
- You are a heir of God and a joint heir with Christ Jesus -Rom. 8:17 & Gal 4:7
- You are Complete in Christ who is the Head of Principality and Power – Col 2:10
- You are a peculiar personality and belong to Royalty – 1 Peter 2: 9-10
- You are past finding out – John 3:8
- You are an overcomer and more than a conqueror – I John 5:4, Rom. 8:37
- You are gods – Psalm 82:6 This is the dominion scriptures of the saints. Moses was sent as god to Pharaoh – Exodus 7:1 In Acts 3:22 Moses prophecy concerning Christ being raised by God to humanity. God sent Christ to the earth as God – John 10:34-35. In John 20:21 Jesus declared that as the father has sent Him so He has empowered and sent us to the world. In Obadiah 1:21 the bible declares that saviours shall come to Mount Zion (The Church). If you put all the above scriptures together you will understand that we are not made of human stuff we are only in the form of a man.
- You are a sign and wonder – Acts 2:43
- You are above all. John 3:31, Eph. 2:6 You are above the following:
Failure Disease
Sickness Poverty
Depression Frustration
Rejection Barrenness
Miscarriage Disappointment, etc
It is imperative after your new birth that you begin to search through the scriptures to properly acquaint yourself with the knowledge of your new personality in Christ Jesus. It is this knowledge that will guarantee your dominion and victory in life. It will set you free from every captivity. The above scriptural references are to help us in a focus study on our new personality. Jesus Christ the Son of God did not die in vain, He died and resurrected to release power to you, to enable you reign victoriously in all areas of life. Luke 10:19, Matt. 28:18.
Pray the following prayer points:
- Lord show me what it takes to walk in the reality of heaven and I will walk in it.
- Reveal to me your power that guarantees my victory in life
- Oh God uphold your word in my life
- Oh LORD my God release upon me the power of sonship.
