Bible Reading: Judges 13, 14, 15; Luke 6:26-49.
“For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.” – Luke 6:44 (KJVS).
The world is going through one of its worst times due to infections by Coronavirus (Covid 19). Several countries have either locked down completely or partially done so. This is obviously to protect its citizens from further infection. However, the critical question is why are we facing such a disaster in the world inspite of all the technological developments and acquired weapons of destruction with various nations? If you check the rate of infection, you will note that even the countries with these weapons are grossly affected. These are also countries with so much laxity in morals arising from freedom of association. This flows from the word of God which says the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
The entire world is full of sin as the precepts in the bible are being neglected more and more. When such things happen, God allows his children to be chastised as it is stated in the first verse of our bible reading. “And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord ; and the Lord delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years” – Judges 13:1 (KJVS). The interesting thing about our God is that whenever we repent of our sins and call on him, he will answer us. Thus in 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJVS), the bible says: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Our God is principled. Whatever a man sows, he will reap. Thus if the world changes its approach and become repentant, the diseases and viruses will be removed and instead, great blessings shall cover the earth. Hence his word says, “For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes” – Luke 6:44 (KJVS).
It is time for the world to reconsider its ways and repent of its sins and begin to please the Lord. This can happen with each of us reading this devotional by ensuring you live a life pleasing to God and thus being a good example unto others while also praying to God to touch the heart of other people to change and begin to seek Him.
Prayer: Father, please give me and all the people of the world the grace to repent and return unto you, living lives that please you in Jesus name.
