Bible Reading: Judges 6-7; Luke 8:1-21.
“But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” Luke 8:15 KJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. (John 1:1-2. ). God the father spoke the Word and creativity followed; light, firmament, earth, seas, seeds, fruits, sea creatures and animals came into existence ( Genesis 1:1-25) and God created the human being and breathed into him. You are made in His image and so you have authority in your tongue. That is why the Bible says in Proverbs 18:21 (KJV), “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” How do you use that authority which is the Word in your tongue?
The word of God is a seed that can be sown and expected to grow. But who sows the word and where it is sown matter. The word of God spoken by an unbeliever is like ordinary word and may have no effect. In fact it may go back to him void because there is no positive power backing it up. For the word spoken to be fruitful, the sower must have enough spiritual power to back it up, that is what makes the quality of the seed. When a bad seed is sown, it will not likely germinate but when a good quality seed is sown, the fruit therefrom is likely to be much. Similarly is the word spoken.
Word spoken can be with positive or negative force. It is a negative force when it is backed by satanic forces. That is why in my part of the world, when one has some satanic backings, he can annoint his tongue with such forces so that every word that comes out of his mouth will become a seed that brings about evil fruitfulness. This happens because some evil forces give it power to make it a fruitful seed. That is why people could speak evil word in Lagos, Nigeria and it will take effect in London!
However, the positive force is more powerful and can counter any evil seed of word spoken. But the quality of such word depends on the purity of the vessel speaking it and the faith in such words. If you are a true child of God that lives a holy life, there is power in your word because you are like God, your father. When you speak the word, it goes into action and begins to achieve the desired objective. No wonder Jesus said in Mark 11:23 (KJV), “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
However, the effectiveness of any seed sown also depend on the quality of the land on which it is sown as we saw in our Bible reading. When the word was spoken to a believing heart, the result was great. That is why Jesus said in Luke 8:15 (KJV), “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”
Action Point: Examine your life, are you living a life of total obedience to the word of God? If not amend your ways from today.
