…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 5:1-20

“As he came forth of his mother’s womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand” – Ecclesiastes 5:15 (KJV).

Most people live as if this world is their permanent abode. If people come to terms with this truth that life on earth is temporal and that when it is over, none of our earthly possessions will accompany us to the grave it may reduce the do or die attitude to material possession. Living for time instead of living for eternity is the result of ignorance of this fact that we came empty and we go empty. Ultimately, only what is done for Christ and His Kingdom will last.

The truth is that most people rob themselves of the joy and hope of eternity due to material pursuit. Wisdom demands that one pay more attention to things that will last beyond the grave. These are things that will speak for one in the life to come. They may not be tangible like houses, cars and money but they are real and eternal. Craving for the peace of God, the joy of the Holy Spirit, holiness, agape love and Christian fruits make sense here and hereafter because they have eternal value. Jesus admonished “labour not for the meat which perisheth but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the father sealed” – John 6:27 (KJV).

PRAYER: May God open our eyes to recognize and crave for things of eternal value in Jesus name.
