Bible Reading: I Kings 12, 13; Luke 22:1-14
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” – 1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV)
The entire world is currently given to rat race. Sadly, the Christians who are meant to provide the proper way of going through life’s situation are not also helping situation. The affection of so many people have completely shifted from that of God to legal tender, money. This is not limited to some tribes or ethnic groups as all are caught in the web. As a result of this shift in focus, numerous accounted and unaccounted evils abound in our society across the world.
Paul, while admonishing his son in the faith, Timothy, said once affection is shifted to money, all kinds of evil shall ensue. You can attest to this in the contemporary world. For instance, how people, including so-called ministers of the gospel whose bellies have become their god. Cyber-crime, ritual killings, kidnapping, falsification of account, assassinations, betrayal etc have become the order of the day. Recall that Judas Iscariot demonstrated his affection towards monetary gain and he betrayed his Master for thirty pieces of silver. Hear the Scripture, “Then Satan entered Judas surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve. So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and the captains how he might betray Him to them. And they were glad and agreed to give him money” – Luke 22:3-5 (NKJV)
Folks, where is your affection, in money or in the love of God? Turn away from the path that is capable of piercing your soul with many sorrows. God knows that you need so many things in life but He demands that you direct your total affection to Him always.
Prayer: Lord, I receive grace to affectionately love You all my life in Jesus Christ name.
