TOPIC: CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY
Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 7-9: John 13:1-17
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” Matthew 6:34 (KJV)
The Word of God is therapeutic. It will keep your mind in perfect peace if you learn to rely completely on it. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” A ‘trusting’ heart will never worry or fret.
When you don’t know God’s heart and way of doing things, you will find yourself constantly under pressure to impress Him. Like Martha, some believers struggle through life, end up frustrated and begin to wonder why everyone around them is so happy because miserable people can’t stand seeing others happy. (Luke 10:41-42).
When you make the presence of God your priority, it won’t matter what happens around you, your community or your country; God will keep you and preserve you because it is His presence – not your ability – that makes the difference. With the owner and ‘knower’ of tomorrow, there is no reason to fret in life.
Worry is dangerous because it physically affects your health and changes your life negatively. Jesus said not to worry or be anxious about tomorrow because two things that can destroy your happiness today are the regrets that you have about yesterday and the fear and dread that you have of tomorrow. Don’t be afraid of the future. Live and enjoy the moment and allow tomorrow to be.
You don’t even have to be afraid of what is going to happen in the next hour. For example, if there’s a memo calling for an urgent staff meeting, refuse that feeling of apprehension or anticipation of something going wrong. Rather enjoy the moment and look forward to good news always. Learn to live every day of your life filled with joy and expectation of something good.
When you make the presence of God your pursuit, you will be a happier person because all that fills your heart is His grace and unconditional love for you. Psalms 37:4 says, “Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” When you make God your greatest pursuit, your greatest desires come to you with ease. Be a happy person in God, enjoy every single day, and allow tomorrow to be.
Prayer: Thank You Father for the gift of life and Your unconditional love for me, I refuse to fret or worry!
