Bible Reading: Psalm 137, 138, 139; 1 Corinthians 13
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well” – Psalm 139:14 (KJV).
Man is the only creation made in God’s image. The Psalmist asked in amazement “what is man that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?” Psalm 8:4 (KJV). When he considered all of God’s creations and the attention God gave to man and the place of man in God’s mind and scheme, he wondered in great amazement.
God ensured that everything was in place and in good condition before he created man. He spoke every other creature into being but for man, he breathed the breadth of his life and moulded the body with his hands. Although, man was the last of God’s creation, he was given charge of all of God’s creations. “So God created man in his own image in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” –Genesis 1:27 (KJV). God released fivefold blessing on the man he created.
Man was empowered to:
Be fruitful
Multiply
Replenish
Subdue and to
Dominate
What an enviable position. This placed man as the god of this world. When God was to create the fish, he spoke to the sea, to create the trees, God spoke to the earth but when God was to create man, he spoke to himself.
“And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and left him have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth; and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth” Genesis 1:26 (KJV).
If you take the fish out of the water, it will die, take the tree off the ground and it dies. Similarly, if man is disconnected from God, he will die spiritually. God is man’s environment; so get reconnected to God your source and livelihood so you can live.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, may I not be disconnected from your environment in Jesus name.
