Bible Reading: Ezekiel 42, 43, 44; 1 John 1.
Memory Verse: “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” 1 John 1:10 (KJV)
David said in Psalm 31:5 (KJV), “Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.,” showing that Truth is the essence of God. God detests lies and has pronounced judgement on liars as explicitly stated in Revelation 21:8 (KJV), “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
So knowing how much God detests liars, can you then imagine making God a liar! That is what several people do; some without knowing but others intentionally. Are you one of those that do so? If Yes, please repent today and amend your way. But before you say, you are not, let’s look at the categories of those who make God liars.
Let’s briefly look at satan when it deceived Adam and Eve. It told them in Genesis 3:1-5, that what God said that they would die if they eat the fruit of a tree is not correct. Though it did not call God a liar directly, it made Him a liar by its statements and actions. This further led to the deceit of Adam and Eve and they also made God a liar by not believing his words but rather believed satan! Now those that do not believe in God make him a liar (1 John 5:10 ). So all unbelievers make God a liar and we should do everything within our powers to win them to Christ so that they can be saved.
Secondly, if you do not believe any part of his word as espoused in the Bible, you make God a liar. Our memory verse today is one of those examples because Romans 3:23 says all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Thus, the Bible says in 1 John 1:10 (KJV), “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” Can you imagine in how many ways you are making God a liar?
Thirdly, Apostle John gave us further example of how we make God a liar. 1 John 2:4 (KJV) says, “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” But how do you know his ways if you do not study his manual? This is why you need to study the Bible regularly. Ensure you read the word of God everyday and ensure you have understanding of what you read.
Action Point:
Examine your life and identify various areas where you make God a liar; repent and make amends.
