Bible Reading: Genesis 3,4; Matthew 2
“And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.” – Genesis 3:8 (KJV)
God’s presence is one thing many people today desire. And He, too, is more than willing to bless us with His manifest presence, but our sin separates us from Him. Adam and Eve, before they sinned must have looked forward to God’s presence in the garden. But after they sinned, they hid themselves from God when He came.
Sin separates us from God. Isaiah 59:2 (KJV) says, “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” God is always near, but when we go contrary to His word and ways we become far from Him.
Adam’s sin led to spiritual death as warned by God Himself (Genesis 2:17). But in His mercy and love for mankind, He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to die for our sins and pay the price for Adam’s disobedience, thereby making available His Holy Spirit.
As you confess your sin, and accept Jesus as Lord and savior, and studying His word, you begin to experienc his presence. In His presence is Joy (Psalm 16:11). And Joy is the cure for depression. His presence clears obstacles from our part among others. Make a commitment to always obey Him by the help of His Spirit. Remember, He is always near.
Prayer: Father, endue me with the Spirit of obedience in Jesus name
