Bible Reading: Genesis 6-8; Matthew 3
Memory verse: “In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea” Matthew 3:1 KJV
The word of God attracts its own. Whenever the word goes out the power behind the word moves people until they come into contact with the bearer and ultimately leads to an encounter for the ones who made contact. Most times, the bearer of such life transforming information from God may be very far from town but if you are a little bit deep, you will hear a voice inside giving you the go ahead to make the trip.
A few years ago I was invited to a church very far away from the city. In fact it is in another state outside where i live. I was reluctant to go at first because of the distance, but God kept reaching out to me through the brother who invited me by giving him words I have never heard before from the bible. I eventually went and it was quite a journey, but my life never remained the same as I had an encounter that still blesses me today from the word of God delivered by the sent man of the church on that very day.
Where you get the information or word that will change your life is never too far. Some persons may be close to where the bearer is but majority may need to come from afar. The same thing happened during the time of John the Baptist, in fact he stayed in the desert and people thronged there to meet him. He didn’t come to town, yet God gave him an information for the world and from there he made impact with it. His message was simple; Matthew 3:2-3 (KJV), “And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.”
The scriptures says of the impact of the message of John in Matthew 3:5-6 (KJV), “Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.” Pharisees and Sadducees, religious leaders of the day, also came to be baptized too (Matthew 3:7). This impact could only be attributed to the divine hand behind him.
So, whether far or near the church of God has the Hand of God behind the messages being preached and this will always attract those ordained by God for their change of story.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your word and the power behind the word.
