Bible Reading: Psalm 41; Rev. 2:11-19
“O Lord, thou has searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my down sitting and mine uprising; thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways” – Psalm 139:1-3 (KJV).
Most times we try to conceal some things from people, especially those aspects of our lives that appear dirty and unpleasant. We do not voice out or express all our thoughts because we will not like others to know our dirty thoughts; the ungodly desires, the lust, envy, greed, malice and bitterness hidden in our souls. Sometimes, we give others the impression that all is well with us even where there are so many things wrong. They may suspect that we are not okay, they may have an idea of what is wrong but then, they may be wrong or shallow in their knowledge because the soul is deep. “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the spirit of God” – 1 Corinthians 2:11 (KJV).
It takes brokenness to open up to others. If one is not broken, openness cannot be achieved and without openness, the secrets of a man cannot be accessed. We know in part, we see in part and we prophesy in part. When that which is perfect comes, that which is in part will be done away. “For now, we see through a glass, darkly, but then face to face: now I know in part: but then shall I know even as also I am known” – 1 Corinthians 13:12 (KJV).
With God, it is not so, he knows the minutest details of our lives. There is no secret or darkness with God. “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do” – Hebrews 4:13 (KJV).
This leaves everyone without excuse. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of God. Our sins, our ways, our thoughts, our actions and our entire lives are plain and open before Him.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I pray that you reveal this truth to everyone to see that there is no hiding place.
