Topic: The death of Jesus
Bible Reading: Judges 10-11; Luke 9:1-36.
Memory Verse: “Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.” Luke 9:31 (KJV)
Death is certain for all human mortals. And nobody knows how and when he would die except it is revealed by God. Generally, nobody likes to die despite knowing that death is what every human body must go through. When King Hezekiah was told of his death, he appealed to God for extension (2 Kings 20:1-5). That is the position of most human beings and I wonder why people are generally unwilling to die. It is worse if you know when you are to die. A story was told of a man who made money rituals and so knew when he would die. A day before the due date, he travelled by airplane to a foreign land hoping the death demon will not be able to locate him. Alas, he died in the plane.
Nobody likes pain. Even the Lord Jesus Christ, when it was about time to crucify him, He went to pray and even asked three of his disciples to join him. ( Luke 9:28). While there, the Bible records that even two great men; Moses and Elijah were sent to him to encourage Him about the death He was to face. Luke 9:31 (KJV) says, “Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.” Even after this, Lord Jesus Christ asked God the father to save Him from the hour but later asked for the will of God to be done. John 12:27 (KJV) says, “Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.”
Nobody likes death particularly if it involves physical pain. Nonetheless, death could bring about a sweet transition if you know where you are heading after the death. Jesus Christ knew where He was going and this gave Him courage to face the pain of death. Do you know where you are heading after death? It is not that difficult to figure out. If you are a true child of God who is obedient to His word, your expected life after death will bring you good vision and you will be ready to experience temporary pains for a short period in order to experience a long time of blessing. However, if you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, it is important you do so now by, confessing your sins and asking the Lord to forgive you all your sins. Then make a commitment to Him not to go back to those sins but live a life of obedience to His is words.
This way, your future after death is assured and the death of Jesus Christ concerning you will not be in vain.
