Bible Reading: 1 Kings 14, 15; Luke 22: 25-48
“But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you,let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve” – Luke 22:26 (KJV)
The eagerness for service is increasingly disappearing in the body of Christ. What usually singles out people of faith in the earliest days is fast going into extinction. This attitude of slackness in service is not just starting but dated back to the day of disciples. Going by their understanding, they felt that greatness is determined by the number of people who render service to them while they would not lift finger. This erroneous believe was spotted by the Master who was also a chief Servant in the life of the disciples, and He corrected it. He said that the world may be highly pronounced in this style of life but because they were different, their pattern of life also should be different. Hear how the Scripture renders it: “And he said unto them, the kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. But ye shall not be so; but the greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve” vv. 25-26
There are various ways of service in the kingdom of God whether you are high up there or middle or you are at the bottom of the ladder of life, there is an assignment for you to carry out in the body of Christ. Your service to the body is relevant and is highly needed, give it! Anytime discouragement tries to set in, shake it off and fasten your eyes on Jesus who lived amongst the disciples as one who serves. Your service has eternal reward. What is God asking you to do now? Rise up and put your best to it.
Prayer Point: God of life, open my eyes to the work you have on reserve for me to advance Your kingdom in Jesus Christ name.
