BIBLE READING: 1 KINGS 6-7, LUKE 23: 27-38
Memory Verse: “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots”. Luke 23:34 (KJV).
Having a heart of forgiveness is key to living a victorious Christian life. It is a very important principle of the Christian faith. The Master Himself in his teaching on prayer taught that our forgiveness of others is a prerequisite for being forgiven by God. “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you” Matthew 6:14-15 (KJV)
Unforgiveness does more harm to the offended. When you let go of offence, you relieve yourself of unnecessary pressure and also create an atmosphere of peace in your heart which is needful to effectively communicate with God. The precious and very costly work of salvation couldn’t have been fruitful if our Lord Jesus didn’t have a heart to forgive. Jesus taught us one of His greatest lessons on forgiveness in the parable of the wicked servant as found in Matthew 18:23-35. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us and forgave all our iniquities regardless of the volume. So He has also laid down the example for us as believers to forgive one another.
Dearly beloved, do you still have someone imprisoned in your heart? Now is the time to forgive and let go. It is the Father’s will for us, His children.
Prayer: Lord, give me the heart and help me to forgive my offenders so as to be forgiven by you.
