Bible Reading: Job 25, 26 & 27; Acts 12
“Where have you gotten all these wise sayings? Whose spirit speaks through you?” Job 26:4 (NLT).
Words can do a lot of things; it can create, build, repair, and even destroy. Words was used in creation. It brought about the whole world. Just like Words were used in creating the world in Genesis 1, you too can create your own world through your words.
Words uttered carelessly have been known to cause wars, to destroy friendships, to tear families apart, to rob people of what belongs to them, and even lead to the death of some. In 2 Kings 7:1-17, the officer who was assisting the King mocked Elisha’s prophecy and diedthebnext day.
Words are not ordinary; they are backed by either the Spirit of God or that of the devil. The Spirit of God was behind creation. God spoke and His Spirit backed it up. No wonder there are so many beautiful things all around us and the enemy is fighting hard to see he destroys these beauty. The devil too, on the other hand can speak through people. But you have a choice to decide who speaks through you. These is determined by what you take in.
Job’s friends came with the aim of comforting him but ended up accusing him of haven offended God, prompting Job to ask… “whose spirit speaks through you?” It is better not to say anything than utter words that may grieve others more like in the case of Job. But when your words are backed or sponsored by the Spirit of God, it will always be uplifting and edifying. And that is what the world needs now more than ever. The more you take in the Word of God the more His Spirit comes into you and speaks through you for His Words are spirit and life.
Prayer: Father, may the words of my mouth be backed by your Spirit at all times in Jesus name.
