Bible Reading: Isaiah 18:1-end
“All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a trumpet, hear ye” – Isaiah 18:3 (KJV)
The coming of Christ to the earth was and will be heralded with signs and wonders with major landmarks. At his birth when he came as a messiah and ransom for the sin of humanity there were signs and events that heralded his entrance to the earth, among which are:-
- A virgin birth. “Behold a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us” – Matt:1:23(KJV).
- The announcement of his birth by angelic host. “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” – Luke 2: 10-11(KJV)
- Some wise men were directed and led by his star to his birth place. “When they heard the king, they departed; and lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was” – Matt. 2:9(KJV)
All these signs were few of the many that were not made known to the entire world but was duly recorded being fulfilment of prophecies.
One of the yet to be fulfilled prophecy of his second coming is our scriptural verse of today. It calls the attention of the entire world ‘inhabitant of the world’ and ‘dwellers on the earth’ admonishing them to see and hear the heralding of his appearance. This prophecy is confirmed in 1 Thessalonians 4:16(KJV) “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:”. This scriptural verse reiterates that his second coming will not be restricted to any particular location but announced to the whole world. He is coming back in glory and not to be in the manger. He is coming back as the King of kings and Lord of lords. His coming will be heralded by great signs and wonders both on earth and in the heavens (See the book of revelation). The question is how prepared are you to meet him? He is coming back to take his own, will you be counted among them?
Opportunity to join this great assembly of believers whose hope is in Christ is very much available as he remains the saviour that can be reached with your infirmities. He has borne the punishment and paid the price of your sin. All that is required of you is to confess your sins to him, repent from your sin, ask for his forgiveness and accept him as your Lord and Saviour.
Prayer: Father, engrace me to remain committed in my Christian race as I wait for the coming of Jesus Christ to take me home.
