Bible Reading: Psalm 63, 64 & 65; Romans 6
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8 (KJV)
Grace is a gift from God. It has been referred to variously as unmerited favour and undeserved kindness. Unmerited/ undeserved because man only deserved justice. It is God sending Jesus to die for man, even in the thick of his sins, so that man could come to God. Only a person who is pure and free from sin could have done that. Only God could. He did it by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, who is His express image.
Grace is God’s ability coming upon us to do that which if left alone we can not do. Grace made salvation available for us. Man was dead in sin. He was firmly under the grip of the enemy, Satan, who Adam handed authority to. His rulership was brutal and bent on corrupting all men, and eventually getting them destroyed. But the grace of God located man.
Now, we have a choice on who we want to serve. By His death, all sin are buried with Him who became sin for us. Therefore, “for sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law , but under grace” Romans 6:14 (KJV). His resurrection have given us the opportunity and privilege of newness of life, the devil notwithstanding.
Now that the choice is yours to make. You are servant of whoever you choose to obey (Romans 6:16). Remember, the devil is not a gentleman. He doesn’t play cool at all. He was firmly behind the happenings in the days of Noah which led to almost the whole world being wiped out with a flood. Embrace the grace of God that is freely given in and through Jesus Christ and live in newness of life as if you have never sinned.
Prayer: Father, let Your grace locate as many as you have destined to save today in Jesus name. By Your grace empower Your children to continue to grow in righteousness and resisting the devil all through our stay on earth in Jesus name.
